Log Staircases

Custom Log Staircases

A log staircase can be an elegant addition to your handcrafted log home.

Our designers and expert craftsmen can craft extremely creative log staircases in many different shapes and sizes – if you have a picture or magazine clipping of a specific staircase style you’d like to see in your home, bring it to us and we’ll build it for you.

For all of our staircase projects, a site visit from a Coyote Log Homes representative will be necessary to properly measure your space and calculate the exact rise and run of the staircase.

Half Log Treads

An impressive sight, half-log stringers are a stunning feature for any home.

Coyote Log Homes offer interior and exterior applications, with your choice of White Pine, Douglas Fir, or Red Cedar kiln-dried log treads and stringers. Features half log treads (10” in diameter) scribed over stringers. We will mill the logs to correct dimensions, then hand-scribe using precision jigs. Option for a full log landing, if required (see below).

Construction: 4-7 days (depends on complexity).
Installation: 1 day.
Average Cost: $325 / tread.

Housed Treads

Housed treads feature two log stringers, milled flat on an inside surface. Housed treads are distinctly different from half log treads, which mortise into the stringers.

We will mill the logs to the correct dimensions and then mortise them into stringers. Coyote Log Homes are proud to offer your choice of White Pine, Douglas Fir, or Red Cedar kiln-dried log treads and stringers. Option for a full log landing, if requested (see below).

Construction: 4-7 days (depends on complexity).
Installation: 1 day.
Average Cost: $350 / tread.

Log Landings (Full Log System)

Are you looking to create a genuinely stunning add-on to your custom-crafted staircase?

Log landings are perfect as an addition to your half log or housed tread staircase. Our hand-scribed log landings feature four log posts supporting a half-log deck floor (an average area of 16 sq. ft.). Coyote Log Homes can add custom decorative accents if requested, adding detail and visual intrigue to your space.

Construction: 2 days.
Installation: 1 hour (on top of the log staircase installation).
Average Cost: $850 to $2,000.
