Coyote Log Home’s biggest project to date has been the design and construction of a multi-million dollar log home resort to be built in Trakai, Lithuania.
The client, who is based in Toronto, needed a log resort to serve as a “corporate retreat” for his company’s Lithuanian offices, which employs more than 1,300 people.
Designed by world-renowned log home designer Murray Arnott, the log resort includes three main structures:
Coyote Log Homes also supplied all of the windows and doors for the resort, Cedar shake roofing and accessories, and log home stain and sealants.
For this project, Douglas Fir logs were used at the request of the client. The logs averaged 15” in diameter and weighed approximately 1,700 pounds each.
Design work on this project began in July 2007, with log work commencing in January 2008. The logs for all three structures were built and shipped to Lithuania as of July 2008, and the entire resort is expected to be fully constructed and finished by February 2009.
For a project of this scale, Coyote Log Homes formed close partnerships with several log builders in British Columbia to import the Douglas Fir and gain access to the larger log drying kilns (the logs were kiln-dried at the client’s request and to meet European importing and building regulations).
We also worked with several local businesses and building supply stores in Barry’s Bay, including Madawaska Doors, to supply the doors and windows that were used in the construction of the resort. This close collaboration received warm accolades from our local Member of Parliament:
“It is my pleasure to congratulate you during this exciting time of expansion for Coyote Log Homes. Securing the contract as the constructor of the log work for an Eastern European resort, as well as sharing this opportunity with other local companies, is a wonderful way to promote the growth of our local economy, and I wish to commend you for it. Now, more then ever, it is our duty to support our local businesses in order to sustain our rural communities and way of life. Your achievement here is a big step in ensuring that sustainability.”
